Their first artist was 1X Band with the song “Tih deževen dan”, which placed 22nd. In 1993, Slovenia made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest. We have chosen Joker Out, who, like Magnifico and the bands Siddharta and Big Foot Mama before them, bring good quality popular music to the Slovenian music scene to the delight of the broadest of audiences. We decided to use a tried and tested form of national selection, namely the internal selection. In a statement, Head of Entertainment for RTV SLO Vanja Vardjan said it was time for a shake-up: The broadcaster said that changing the approach from the EMA national selection was an easy decision. RTV SLO announced that Joker Out would represent the country at a special presentation on Thursday (December 8th). The band is also signed to record label Shagadelic Records. The band is made up of five different members – Bojan, Kris, Kure, Nace and Jan. Their genres can range from indie pop rock – similar to that of the Arctic Monkeys – to experimental pop. Joker Out is one of the most popular bands in Slovenia, dominating the country’s music charts for several years. Misija Liverpool will air at 20.00 CET on 4th February 2023. Other performers on Misija Liverpool will include: “The Eurovision Song Contest has not been genre-defined or limited for a long time. We remain true to ourselves, regardless of where and when we perform,” Joker Out Speaking about their entry, the band said: Joker Our recently travelled to Hamburg, where they recorded an English-language album, but have confirmed that their song for Eurovision will remain in Slovenian. The show will be hosted by Miša Molk, a journalist and presenter whose connections to Eurovision span back to the days of Yugoslavia’s participation! She has provided commentary on the contest, presented votes and is a member of the EBU’s reference group. ![]() ![]() What can we expect from Misija Liverpool? The special broadcast will show the band’s journey in recording their Eurovision song, as well as featuring performances from past Eurovision representatives. Slovenia’s national broadcaster RTV SLO has announced that Joker Out’s entry will premiere on Misija Liverpool on 4th February 2023.
